A Life and Death Decision
In a recent study of life
insurance policyholders, only one-fourth of the
respondents reported having someone they consider their
personal life insurance agent. They feel like orphans.
Approximately two-thirds of the households with income
between $25,000 and $75,000 have life insurance. Of
those, almost one-third do not feel they have enough
insurance. Now, the dilemma - who do they call?
The one-third of life
insurance policyholders, who do not feel they have
enough coverage, and feel they do not have an agent to
call, still need someone they trust to service their
life insurance needs. Who are they going to call? The
life insurance industry reports new agent retention is
only a little over 10 percent. This causes policyholders
to be repeatedly transferred to new advisors every few
years. Policyholders have no relationship with these new
agents, and therefore have not developed that trust
factor needed to have faith in the advice they are
given.
There are many reasons why
you chose a professional independent insurance agent to
handle your property and liability insurance needs.
These same reasons should apply to your life
insurance-buying decisions. A trust relationship already
exists with your agent, and you have the perfect
measurement of a successful relationship. If you are
happy with the service you are receiving, and having a
trust relationship with the people in your agent's
office who are going to advise you, then that most
important decision of "who are you going to call" is
already made.
